August 24 Nick had his account locked by steam for allegedly having duplicated items.▐ TheVenomWithin sparked new controversy when he convinced someone to post a status that he then used to create this reddit thread.▐ All of the recent TF2Outpost promotees to admin were given green tags on SteamRep, meaning they can view hidden information but not mark users. August 25 Courtney appealed her permanent ban and rejoined the forums.▐ CecilyLovesYou was banned for two weeks.▐ Hazza was banned for a week.▐ An impersonator of Gent appeared, and someone harassed him about it. August 26 TheProcave requested a second permanent ban.▐ Bobsplosion purchased HLA's backpack almost in full, bringing him to the #1 backpack position on backpack.tf, at roughly 68,000 USD.▐ Email confirmation was introduced for the steam community market, providing complete protection from unauthorized sales. It can be disabled in the same way trade email confirmation can. August 27 A new TF2 update introduced Trade-Ups. A user can trade in items of any quality that originate from the gunmettle update to create new weapons. August 28 Pomp was banned for a day for posting gargantuan swastikas in status updates.▐ HarryG was banned for three days for spam in the trading section.▐ Toby started a steam group to help gather backpack.tf forum members to play Mann vs. Machine with each other.▐ i55 started today. It's a massive gaming festival based in the UK, and attracts people from all over the world. Check out their website here. August 29 Nothing here yet. August 16 Lmf appealed his permanent ban today, only having been banned for a little over a week.▐ RozeEagle was banned for a month assaulting other users.
August 17 Steam has still not repaired the trading glitch, and there have been no official statements about it. Items usually return to a trader's inventory in the hours following a trade. August 18 The forums experienced an SQL error that could be found on some threads for a few hours. The error was fixed within a few hours, but it rendered certain pages inaccessible.▐ The FoG report on Frost came to a close today, and he received an official warning. The alt that sparked heated discussion and got multiple TF2Outpost users banned permanently was decided not to be obvious enough to warrant any more than a warning.▐ A new TF2 update was released today: a quasi-soccer game mode that melds normal gameplay with a golden ball, the objective being to score on the enemy team. Read more about it here.▐ A youtuber by the name of Muselk is the newest owner of the cursed TC, and he has already been reported to FoG. August 19 Bait requested a 5 day ban from the forums. August 20 Muselk returned the burning TC. August 21 Nothing here yet. August 22 A scammer came to the forums to try to scam with an alt account, and he was immediately shut down and banned. [/spoiler] August 9 Sphere Box raided the forums.▐ Twitch streamer and forum member LookAtMyChicken crafted four unusuals together in an attempt to get better unusuals with better effects. Watch the video here.▐ Toughsox and Ascent were promoted to appeal admins on outpost, as well as sirploko being given the orange admin tag.▐ Kitteh was reported on FoG and SteamRep for allegedly charging back a paypal payment made to Bone. He was permanently banned on the forums immediately after the scam became apparent, and a user created an alt with his name, which was quickly banned. The alt was not Kitteh.
August 10 Wooden House was unbanned today, after serving over a year of his permanent ban for engaging in a flame war.▐ TheProcave appealed his requested permanent ban. August 11 w0lk returned to the forums, having previously requested a permanent ban.▐ Frost, who shot all the way to the number one backpack over the course of a few months, was permanently banned from TF2Outpost for trading with obvious scammer alts. His case was just one in a number of bans incurred after a number of reputable traders traded with a scammer alt that was considered by outpost to be obvious, but multiple members of the community expressed their discontent with the decision, as they believe the alt was credible to be traded with. Read their discussion here.▐ Two more moderators on TF2Outpost were promoted. Baloo now handles user reports, and Voxdei joined the appeals admin team. August 12 Bone won his paypal chargeback dispute against Kitteh.▐ Dispenser.tf had at least 100 bitcoins stolen from their site after an unauthorized admin panel access in the early morning. At the time of theft, that amounts to slightly over 25,000 USD. Read their announcement about it here.▐ After being banned for a month, Wubsies made an alt to request his permanent ban. August 13 Steam is holding back items during trades. It is advisable not to do any trading until this has been fixed. Scrap.tf elected to disable its services for the time being.▐ Rafiozol and Captain Caboose were banned for three days and seven days respectively, for abusing the character glitch that breaks status updates.▐ Tanner the Original Scout was permanently banned, after the alt he had been using for a few weeks was traced back to him. August 14 Nick and RozeEagle got into a battle on the status updates in the night. August 15 The Steam trading glitch continued into today, with more and more reports of missing items. Steam has made no comment on the situation.▐ Silverspeed was banned for a full year from trade.tf after a situation Lord Swag detailed in this discussion. Multiple forum members were also banned from the trade.tf forums after they harassed Lord Swag there. August 2 The backpack.tf forum wiki now has its own pinned thread.
August 3 Lmf started a giveaway today. Only around 50 forum members entered, and 25 keys and an unusual were awarded. Those entrants who did not win a key or the unusual were given a refined metal as a consolation prize.▐ In the aftermath of Lmf's raffle, the dolphin picture that bakgrund introduced to the forums so long ago became a forum wide meme, more than ten members are currently sporting the pompous bottlenose. August 4 Captain Caboose was banned for a day for making a joke on this thread.▐ TF2Outpost no longer has any appeals admins. Today, Garry stepped down from his admin position, and there has been no word from outpost about a replacement. This is their current staff list, and here is Garry's profile, where he posted the news.▐ Brian. requested a twenty day ban from the forums. August 5 Sweetstakes.tf had a celebratory raffle as its 100,000th raffle. It had a maximum of 10,000 slots originally, but as the items approached 1000, the limit was lowered to 1000. The jackpot reached a little over 4,000 keys, and the winner had a .47% chance. August 6 λngelღмander applied for forum moderator.▐ Auroz, banned permanently in the infancy of the newsletter, returned today after a successful appeal.▐ Lmf started yet another raffle today, this time for an australium scattergun. He also requested that he be permanently banned from the forums when the raffle ended.▐ Polar posted a new pricing rule, items can only be repriced under the circumstance that the change in value was of more than five percent. This varies, however, if there is overwhelming proof for a smaller change, or not changing a mean. Read the thread here. August 7 Sir Stealth requested a permanent ban from the forums.▐ Wubsies was banned for three days for encouraging spam.▐ 0-T was banned for 3 weeks for spamming the status updates, along with TheMCBros99 and Wearer of Hats, who both got one day bans. August 8 SteamRep had a minor update to its layout. The timeline has been removed, and unconfirmed reports are shown on friends below a user profile. July 26 A Flame war broke out in this thread after a member went out of his way to point out that the problem the original poster had was meaningless due to the low value of the item in question. Multiple members were banned in the aftermath, including RozeEagle for 10 days, and Wubsies for a week.▐ CecilyLovesYou was banned for a day for quoting a post without adding any content.▐ frank mcdank was banned for a week for spamming status updates.
July 27 Members banned from Scrap.tf over the TF2 General leak of salacious pictures of Scrap.tf admins had their bans reduced from full site to community bans. July 28 Geel9 posted a raffle on Scrap.tf called "This is a trap". There were five possible entries, and when it concluded, the five people who entered were permanently banned. Two of the five entrants were able to claim their prizes before Geel banned them. There has been no explanation as to what happened thus far. UPDATE: Geel made an official statement on a reddit thread about the bans.▐ TheProcave requested a permanent ban from the forums.▐ The newsletter banner got a free redesign. July 29 Bobsplosion lamented over receiving his first warning point, for providing a link to a file sharing site.▐ Steam released six new emoticons today, all with steam in their name. You can use them for free.▐ Today, ForteSP deleted the craft number 1 Hazmat Headcase, and the craft number 1 Bubble Pipe.▐ A golden pan was awarded for completing a tour, and was the talk of the forum. July 30 The newsletter banner went transparent! July 31 Stargatius, a long time member who had requested a permanent ban at one point, started the backpack.tf forum wiki. It lived a short few hours, accruing less than twenty pages before site difficulties caused him to abandon the site. The thread was locked after account registration was disabled.▐ The owner of CSGOJackpot has been accused in this reddit thread, by an admin of his site, of having his main competitor CSGOShuffle DDoSed to try to bring back some of its users.▐ A picture of Geel9's learner's permit was leaked, revealing his birth date and address.▐ Citricat requested a permanent forum and site ban, after blocking all forum members and scamming a knife from TheMCBros99. August 1 The backpack.tf forum wiki has been fixed, and uploaded under a new site name. July 19 CecilyLovesYou was banned for three days for harassing Courtney in status updates.
July 20 Yahiamice created a thread detailing his situation in retaliation to treatment he had recently received from other forum members due to a problem while being brokered for by Kuuko-San.▐ TheVenomWithin was banned for a week from the main site for sharing his premium tools with other users.▐ Sir j-j-jon, a former backpack.tf price moderator, who was banned for admitting to have sought after hijacked hats through the Steam Community Market, was trade banned today. It is unknown whether the ban is permanent or not. July 21 Hawko requested a ban until August 30th. July 22 Scrap.tf reduced the time it takes a bot to send a trade offer by 3 seconds. July 23 λngelღмander successfully appealed his caution.▐ A conversation between Courtney and Blake McCullough, a TF2Outpost moderator, escalated into this Reddit thread. July 24 Courtney and The Tea Overlord received permanent bans for participating in flame wars and causing drama in the status updates.▐ A small TF2 update rendered LMAOBox, a popular cheat client, useless. Read about it here. ▐ Baloo, an outpost moderator and longtime backpack.tf member, has requested a permanent ban from the forums. He elected not to reveal his motives behind leaving. July 25 Sugarcube was banned for two weeks for spamming.▐ Kebabvendor recieved a two week ban for spamming with an alt during a temporary ban.▐ Scrap.tf introduced a feature that shows a user the amount of time before the next contract drop. Read the announcement here. ▐ A major fault in Steam security resulted in a rash of accounts being hijacked. The exploit involved the use of the reset password feature, and all that was needed to perform it was the victim's Steam account name. It appears to have been fixed at this time. Cleverpun, a moderator here on backpack.tf, seems to have fallen victim to this, as he reportedly locked his account using Steam guard after receiving a password change confirmation email. Read more about the initial exploit here.▐ Stargatius had his permanent ban removed, and has returned to the forums. July 12 Bomber Rat's alt, LOL)))))) was permanently banned for a comment he made on Courtney's forum profile. CecilyLovesYou was banned for a day for antagonizing Courtney. Hazza was also banned for three days for spreading chat logs he had with Courtney.▐ Rainford was banned from ETF2L for hacking.
July 13 Same2Me was unbanned from the forums. He was banned in December 2014 for posting a screamer and ban evasion.▐ Tactical Ass received a 1 day ban for instigating flame wars. ▐ Stealth requested a two week ban from the forums. ▐ Today, for the first time in Newsletter history, it was updated by a moderator. July 14 Cares wrote a userscript for SteamRep that searches FoG for active reports, displaying them on the SteamRep profile page. July 15 The CS:GO developers hinted at a new update in this tweet.▐ Kuuko-San was banned from TF2Outpost for two weeks for trading with obvious scammer alts. July 16 The update hinted at in a tweet by the CS:GO developers was unveiled today. It features a shop that sells real world merchandise, like T-Shirts. Visit it here. July 17 Penguin The Fluffy, a SteamRep admin for reddit, was trade banned by valve today, then mysteriously unbanned within hours. With notoriously sluggish service, it's a shock to see them move so quickly. July 18 TheVenomWithin created a new SourceRep today, a reincarnation of the site TheMCBros99 created back in February that quickly became a joke and was ridiculed by the community. July 5 Lord Swag of Trade.tf banned a user from his trading site for allegedly doing well against him in a public TF2 server. This is just yet another incident in a string of events that have led the community to view Lord Swag as a joke. This is a picture of the thread that the banned user made. It was deleted shortly after its creation by Lord Swag.
July 6 An alt by the name of Normies had a two hour reign of terror while all moderators remained offline.▐ The forums reached 20,000 recorded members today. There have actually been around 20,360 members, but it appears that the member counter does not factor in banned users, while the user count does not fill in the gaps in member IDs when a user is banned.▐ Scrap.tf implemented skin banking, they now purchase your skins for a base price, to resell of course. Scrap.tf never fails to capitalize on a new trend. July 7 Geel posted a link to a poll in a status update, that linked to the developer side of scrap.tf, possibly hinting at a new feature in coming days.▐ The forums were raided again, by presumably the same user who maintains that he is not Valley Forge.▐ Buds experienced a sharp rise in value over the course of a few days, reaching a plateau at five keys. July 8 A promotional video for an unimplemented community inspired update surfaced, leading some users to believe it was a leaked video from valve. July 9 Scrap.tf's skin banking has been improved upon, and they now accept more than 100 skins. Read the announcement here.▐ Buds continued on their sharp incline today, reaching a high of 7 keys, and apparently going for as many as 8 keys, so soon that a new suggestion could not be made.▐ TF2Center lost community support after a series of events outlined in depth in this reddit post.▐ Today, the all time most online users record for the backpack.tf forums, which was 825 on January 4th 2014, was supplanted by a landslide new total of 1957 users. It is unknown what caused this massive spike. July 10 The newsletter celebrates its 4 month anniversary today.▐ Buds finally crashed, going from 8 keys down to 6.5 and dropping fast. They couldn't even hold onto their hot air long enough for the week to end, so there will be no insightful editorial about the incredible possibilities. July 11 Courtney returned to the forums today, and has already renewed the drama that ended when Venom was permanently banned.▐ The 40,000th thread was posted today. A shame, because it was a trading thread and not celebratory in any way. June 28 Sphere Box raided the forums, posting a link to a website he found that he thought embodied his online persona.▐ Hex started a thread suggesting the forums ban of all users permanently banned from the main site. It was met with harsh rebuttal, but earned a lot of attention.
June 29 TheVenomWithin was permanently banned from the forums for being offensive. It can be easily said that this was expected.▐ A thread that Zimby made antagonizing Venom landed him a one week ban.▐ CrafterofGenius was banned for three days for supporting Venom after his ban.▐ Samalex was given a scammer tag today, after an internal investigation by SteamRep.▐ Itsy Bitsy successfully appealed his TF2Outpost ban for abusing the report system.▐ Kuuko-San was banned for three days for spam. June 30 The most highly anticipated Terraria update ever came out today, featuring almost a thousand new items and countless new objectives.▐ An update was made to the rules for the classifieds.▐ Motar2k, a steam user who, to date, has made over 100,000 dollars in donations to popular Twitch.tv streamers, was marked today for trading with scammers. Read the report here.▐ The forums were hacked recently, and here is Fiskie's thread explaining what happened. It is also mentioned that a main site integrated forum will eventually be made.▐ 0gravity0 appealed his permanent caution on FoG today.▐ The user who lent his golden pan to Max Box, a scammer, had his scammer tag downgraded to a permanent caution today. July 1 Mattje was permanently banned for spamming the status updates. Said puddingkip, "I mean, that's the most mattje way to get banned ever."▐ SteamAnalyst.com was hacked, and its homepage sported a fake ad that boasted free keys, but instead downloaded a hack. Read about it here.▐ An update for Team Fortress 2 announced, dubbed the 'Gunmettle' update. It introduces campaign like missions to be completed biweekly, and brings new weapon variants and conditions just like in CS:GO. July 2 The promised update was released, and can be downloaded and played now.▐ Utsoob was banned for a day for harassing Prof. Sugarcube. July 3 The new Team Fortress 2 update brought with it a number of new glitches, including a Mann versus Machine glitch that allows for first round max weapon upgrades, the ability to use the Steam Community Market to change the skin on the new weapons, and another allowing users to apply killstreak kits to unusual hats.▐ A user who unboxed a high tier unusual came to the forums for help, for once. If the direction of the thread is any indication, this is one high tier unusual that won't be seen in the hands of a shark.▐ Cranwell96 was banned for one day for attempting to use the status updates to trade while marked. July 4 Jakey-Boo requested a permanent forum ban.▐ Wubsies was banned for 2 weeks for a snippy comment in the trading section.▐ Tanner the Original Scout was banned for 30 days for spam in the trading section. |
